Katy Waters

Holistic Therapist

Katy is our resident holistic & beauty therapist offering aromatherapy, warm bamboo massage and hot stone massage plus pre/postal treatments

‘Holistic’ comes from the Greek word holos, meaning ‘whole’. Rather than just addressing an immediate symptom, a holistic therapist will look for the underlying cause by considering current physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual states of health and wellbeing. They will then work to restore the body’s natural balance, leading to a more sustained and rewarding quality of life.

While it has been effectively used for centuries, the scientific community today is now recognizing the importance holistic therapy plays in maintaining good health and overall wellbeing.

Holistic therapy is being used increasingly by individuals wanting to find more balance and harmony within themselves. Holistic therapy has gained in popularity especially among those looking to manage chronic stress. Studies show that ‘taking time out’ for holistic therapy treatment can help individuals to manage stress; aiding relaxation and improving longevity.

Holistic therapy is effective in addressing countless other physical and psychological concerns, from muscular aches and pains to hormonal imbalances, to improved sleep and mental clarity.

As well as being deeply relaxing and providing relief from the everyday stresses, holistic therapy treatments can also be a treat for individuals who enjoy pampering themselves.

Lloyd Davies

Sports Therapist

Partially sighted sports therapist Lloyd Davies joins Rothery Health .

In late November 2013, at the age of just 20, Lloyd Davies complained of suffering from slightly blurred vision in his left eye. He put up with it for a short while and when it showed no signs of improvement he went to the local optician.

By Christmas 2013, he had lost his vision in his left eye. Barely a month had passed from the time that he first complained of blurred eyesight to losing it almost completely.

In January 2014, he was given the devastating news that they had found the cause of his blindness and he was diagnosed as suffering from Lebers Hereditary Optical Neuritis (LHON) which is a genetic mutation of the eye.

Sure enough, shortly after the diagnosis, the sight in his right eye started to deteriorate. He stopped driving in April 2014 and in May 2014, he was issued a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI). He is now classed as being Legally Blind.

He has had many of his life choices taken away from him, yet he remains hopeful for the future. His dream of a Military career has been ripped from him and that has proved to be one of the most difficult things for him to come to terms with. However he is enjoying the challenge of sports therapy and despite losing his Vision he is utilising his sensation of touch to his advantage. What an inspirational character .Call him to book an appointment

Dave Francis

Bike Fitter

Dave Francis is an accomplished local triathlete who achieved an amazing time of 9 hours and 44 minutes at Ironman Austria.

In 2013 he was the second Welshman home at Ironman Wales based here in Tenby UK. Which granted him qualification for the World Ironman Championships in Kona Hawaii in 2014. Since competing at the World Championships he has won the World Vets sprints and competed for Great Britain as an age qualifier at the half Ironman distance.

He is interested in bike fits started when the concepts of “medium gains” started to be passed down to the club rider from the elite professional circles.

With the importance of comfort and aerodynamic positioning as a basic starting point becoming essential for anyone serious about cycling events or triathlon Dave was keen to widen his knowledge.

Dave is passionate about how bike profiling can make a huge difference to the athlete and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge at Rothery Health clinic.

He is also looking forward to performing bike fits to help the local athlete or Professional rider in order for them to achieve their goals. Not only this he is also offering 1-1 professional coaching sessions for any athlete should they require it. We are pleased such a distinguished athlete is on our team at Rothery Health.
